Billington's first experience in real estate was site development and acquisitions for BP Oil Co., identifying and acquiring sites in northern New Jersey. She then went to work for James E. Hanson Management Company for 25 years, were she managed, maintained and rented thousands of units in northern New Jersey. She was broker owner of her own real estate office in downtown Jersey City until Superstorm Sandy wiped out the office. From there she worked for Crystal Springs in Sussex County, selling luxury resort homes. Ultimately, she said, the lure of Bergen County real estate brought her back locally. It was at this point, said a company spokesperson, she secured an exclusive relationship with two of the areas new premiere rental developments, "The Monarch" in East Rutherford and "The Station at Lyndhurst."
